Caption check
Paste a caption to see whether it fits each channel. Limits are common defaults for a quick pre-flight check; a channel can change them.
What this checks and how to use it
The checker counts the characters in your caption (letters, spaces, emoji and links all count as you typed them) and compares that number with the usual limit of each channel you tick. It also counts hashtags where a channel caps them. Each channel gets a result in words, not only a colour: Fits, Check (close to the limit) or Too long.
- Paste or type your caption into the box.
- Leave every channel ticked, or untick the ones you do not publish to.
- Press Check caption. The page reloads with a table of results. Your caption is not saved anywhere.
Where the numbers come from: caption length by platform.
Character limits used
| Channel | Characters | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| X (Twitter) | 280 | Counts every character including links (links count as 23 on the platform; this tool counts them as typed). |
| 2200 | Up to 30 hashtags per post. | |
| 63206 | Long posts are cut off with a 'See more' link; keep the first line useful. | |
| 3000 | The first lines show before 'see more'. | |
| TikTok | 2200 | Video description. |
These are common defaults for a quick pre-flight check. A channel can change its limits at any time, so treat a result close to the limit as a prompt to check the channel itself.
